God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.” Experiencing God
We’ve talked about how important it is for each of us to share what God is saying; and we’ve looked at what this looks like when it happens. This week we’re going to look at why. Why is it important for us to share with one another what God is saying?
As you know, The Holy Spirit decides which spiritual gift a person should have. It is the Spirit who gives these gifts. And, He gives each of us (at least one) a spiritual gift as a means of helping the entire church.
1 Corinthians 12:8 tells us that “To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another He gives the gift of special knowledge. The Spirit gives special faith to another… to another the ability to prophesy… He gives someone else to know whether it is really the Spirit of God.”
Take a moment to think about this… How important would it be for the Spirit (God) to tell us what we should do? If we are asking God to guide us and direct us in the path we should go, how important is it that God tell us the direction He wants us to go in? Plus, if God is going to tell us, how would He tell us?
God would tell us by telling the people in the church! If He gives someone wise advice to tell the church, if He gives another special knowledge to tell the church, if He gives to another special faith for a path or to another to know what is God’s direction, then we are fulfilling the purpose God gave each of us a spiritual gift for.
We need each part of the body functioning the way God intended for us to otherwise, how would we know the will of God.
