Seeking God’s Will for Asbury- part two

Categories: Rick's Blog

God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.”  Experiencing God

Last week we talked about how important it is for each of us to share what God is saying so we can come to know God’s will for the church. This week I thought I might share what that might look like.

First, we need to go over the principles:
1. The leader encourages the body to go to Christ and get confirmation from the head (Christ).
2. The leader should create opportunities for the people to share what God is saying to them.
3. The right question is: “With all the information and all the praying we have been doing, how many of you sense that God clearly is directing us to proceed in this direction?”
4. We wait for God’s timing.

I copied those principles from my journal from March 1, 2005. We had been going through the workbook, “Experiencing God,” and had realized God was at work in our church by causing us to grow both spiritually and numerically. We had out grown the hotel conference room we were meeting in.

On March 8th, I recorded that a member called me sharing with me that, “God wants us to have a church building of our own.” I began to share these things with the church and asked people to pray about them.

On May 3, 2006, a friend of mine who lived in Dallas, who I had not mentioned anything to, emailed me and said the Lord had laid upon him a verse for me, “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God.” 2 Cor 5:1

I shared this with the church and we were all encouraged by it.

On June 1, 2006 we moved into a church building.
